Jan Gwenter’s work is inspired by her love of home, gardens and the landscape in which she lives and travels. Influenced by book illustrations, particularly those for children, her naïve designs are worked in machine appliqué with the addition of hand embroidery.
More recent work has been three-dimensional. Jan has created a series of buildings evocative of areas of the countryside that she loves. These are machine appliquéd but also include the use of wire and felting.Jan aims to continue to capture images from her journeys in both two and three-dimensional work, introducing new techniques along the way.
