I grew up surrounded by family members who could create original items from what was available - post war rationing and other constraints allowing.Their constant need to create influenced me greatly. A forgotten item from those times sometimes finds its way into my work - a button, a plate, an image of a jug, or a piece of cloth helping to keep the cloth alive.I have no fixed way of working, but will often paint a background, then add vibrant coloured recycled scraps of fabric using a combination of machine and hand stitching.

However, more and more I become influenced and inspired by tutors at various workshops, who push me out of my comfort zone.
